A LOCAL band has released its third single since the coronavirus lockdown started in March.

Rockers Bad Actress – including the MacFarlane brothers from Mundole, Struan (18) aka Chick, Lewis (16) aka Lui, and Ross McFarlane (20) aka Vinnie Vexx – are currently promoting Outta My Head – a guitar riff-riddled song recorded in their home practice room.

Struan said: “Three of us living in the same house makes it easier to write and record.

“When the Covid-19 rules were relaxed, the other two band members Thomas Bell (23) aka Tommy B, from Culloden, and Gareth Mair (31) aka Bobbin, from Portknockie, came separately to record their parts.

“It took us a bit longer than our earlier releases, which we recorded in Captain Tom’s studio in Aberdeen before lockdown came in, but we are really pleased with the result.”

Outta My Head follows Highspeed Heartbreak and Mamma Ain’t Talkin’, released in April and July respectively.

Both received positive reviews and radio play on platforms including Scotland Rocks Radio, Greater Manchester Rock Radio, Banks Radio in Australia and Mojo Rocks in the US.

Bad Actress also had direct feedback from Ryan Roxie, of the Alice Cooper band, when they opened for The Lost Angels in Glasgow. Speaking about their song Mama Ain’t Talkin’, he said: “The attitude and good time vibe is there.”

The band are also featured in this month’s Emerging Rock Bands magazine.

After a string of shows had to be cancelled due to the pandemic, including Bonfest at Kirriemuir in May, Elgin Town Hall in July, Thunder in the Glen in Aviemore in August and Wolfstock in Banff in August, the band have channelled their energies elsewhere.

Struan said: “It’s been a really tough year for everyone in the live music industry.

“We’ve focused on writing, recording and engaging through social media. That’s been really good, but we can’t wait to get back out and play.”

Outta My Head was released on all major music streaming platforms last Friday.
