ScotRail trains between Inverness and Aberdeen delayed and cancelled as broken down engine between Insch and Huntly disrupts services
A broken down train is causing morning (Thursday, October 23) disruption for rail travellers between Inverness and Aberdeen.
The 6.14 am ScotRail service from Aberdeen to the Highland capital developed a fault between Insch and Huntly.
It is currently expected to arrive in Inverness 54 minutes late.
That has had a knock-on effect, with later services delayed and disrupted.
Among those affected, the 5.40 am Inverness to Aberdeen train has been held up at Huntly.
The 6.59am Inverness to Aberdeen train terminated at Elgin and will no longer call at Keith, Huntly, Insch, Inverurie, Kintore, Dyce or Aberdeen.
The 7.18am Aberdeen to Inverness is being delayed between Inverurie and Insch.
Services between Inverness and Elgin have also been cancelled.
A ScotRail spokesman confirmed: “The 06:14 from Aberdeen to Inverness has developed a fault between Insch and Huntly. Staff on board are currently trying to fix the issue.
“Disruption is expected until 09:30.”
All passengers travelling between Inverness and Aberdeen this morning are advised to check their journeys HERE before setting off.
