A LOCAL charity is hosting a fundraiser at Universal Hall for vulnerable and marginalised children around the world.

CEO of Ecologia Youth Trust, Liza Hollingshead, confirmed, as well as a screening of The BFG (PG, 117min) , there will be a chance to win prizes in a raffle afterwards, as well as a stall selling handmade crafts from Russia, Uganda and Kenya.

Ms Hollingshead said: "It’s going to be a great night!

"We hope that, with the support of the local community, we will raise vital funds to support children and young people who have problems integrating into society, been abandoned, orphaned, or made vulnerable by poverty and disease."

Founded in 1995, Ecologia Youth Trust gives marginalised young people education, confidence, skills and resources. Ecologia works with more than 700 children and young people each year in Scotland, Russia, Kenya and Uganda. The charity aims to transform the lives of children with poor family support and low social/emotional skills, orphans and those affected by poverty. Staff want all young people to realise their potential and to contribute to stronger, sustainable communities.

For more information about the event or how to buy a raffle ticket, please call the Ecologia Office on 01309 690 995 or email info@ecologia.org.uk.

Doors open at 6.30pm and the film starts at 7.30pm. Film entry is by donation and raffle tickets are £5 each for a chance to win five prize hampers.
