Nairn Community & Arts Centre to welcome award-winning Resol String Quartet for performance and music workshop

A nearby town is set to welcome an award-winning ensemble next weekend - with two workshops for young musicians also on the schedule.

The renowned Resol String Quartet will be performing works by Haydn, Schubert and Beethoven at Nairn Community and Arts Centre on Saturday as part of Music Nairn’s series.

Formed in 2018 at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, the four musicians - Annabel Kidd (violin), Eliette Harris (violin), Raphael Chinn (viola), and Alasdair Morton-Cheng (cello) - are united by a shared passion for chamber music and a mission to make classical music more accessible.

The quartet will also present two interactive workshops for young musicians (aged 12-17) earlier that day as part of Music Nairn’s Music Magic series.

The sessions, which will take place from 10am to 11am (for 12-14-year-olds) and 11.30am to 12.30pm (for 15-17-year-olds) in the Nairn Community & Arts Centre’s Youth Café, will explore the art of listening within a musical ensemble, helping participants understand how a string quartet works and the vital role of each instrument.

These will be free but places should be booked in advanced via the centre. Tickets for the evening performance will also be available through the centre in person, by phone (01667 453476), or on www.nairncc.co.uk priced at £19 (£16 for Music Nairn members) or £3 for under 25s.
