Armed attackers assault man (45) in his flat

POLICE in Moray are hunting two armed attackers - one wearing a balaclava - who forced their way into a flat and assaulted a 45-year-old man.

The incident happened at 11.50pm on Monday, December 20 in a flat in Lhanbryde.

The two men forced their way into a flat in St Brydes Court.

The injured man was taken by ambulance to Dr Gray's Hospital in Elgin where he remains for treatment. Medical staff describe his condition as stable.

The suspects ran off from the flat to a car which drove off towards Robertson Road.

They are described as:

  • White, 5ft 6 in height, of slim build, wearing a grey jacket and a balaclava.
  • White, of stocky build, wearing a black jacket.

Sergeant Phil Wu, Elgin Police Station, is leading the enquiry. He said: "Although the motive for this attack has still to be established, at this time we believe it to be targeted.

"Officers have been making door to door enquiries and checking local CCTV but would appeal to anyone who saw the suspects either before or after the attack, or who may have any information about what happened, to come forward.

"Details can be passed to officers are Elgin Police Station via 101. Please quote reference number 3629 of Monday, 20 December, 2021, when calling. Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
