AN annual music festival at Eden Court featured outstanding young performers from Forres.

Siblings Edward (13) and Madeline Clark (11) were amongst dozens of musicians from the area to pick up prizes at the Inverness Music Festival where people of all ages and abilities can develop their potential in a wide range of musical, dance and speech events.

All performers are adjudicated and given written appraisals - those who give the best performances win.

Proud mum Amanda Clark watched Forres Academy student Edward and Applegrove pupil Madeline impress the audience and judges.

She said: "Both children were delighted with the experience. They learn their instruments through the school instruction system which has recently been under threat from rise in tuition fees by the Moray council. It is great to see that a small authority such as Moray can gain such achievements on this level."

Edward entered the Grade 6/7 category for cello, winning1st place with a mark of 90/100. He was awarded an 'Outstanding' merit and won the Isobel Grant Trophy.

Madeline entered the Grade 4/5 category for violin, gaining 2nd place with a mark of 89/100. She was awarded a 'Distinction'.
