Last year's reunion in the Mosset.
Last year's reunion in the Mosset.

A QUARTER of a century since they first started, former Forres Academy students are being invited to a reunion lunch.

Organiser Liz Phimister is looking forward to welcoming old acquaintances and new faces to the popular event at the Mosset Tavern on Friday, September 6.

She said: "This is a great opportunity to meet up with old pals and maybe make new friends. The superb buffet provides a chance for everyone to mingle and catch up on all the gossip.

"It would be lovely to see as many as possible ex-pupils, teachers, partners and friends of all ages to attend."

The first reunion lunch was held in 1995 - it marked 50 years since the original organisers left school and the end of the Second World War. It was so successful, it was decided to make it an annual fixture.

A roll call always starts proceedings and the event ended with a rendition of the school song.

"People have come from Australia, Germany and many more from the south of England,"said Liz. "The numbers vary from year to year between 80 and 110. The oldest attendees are in there 90's and the youngest, 60's though one year we had a real youngster in their 30's!

"As this is the 25th year there will be cake to help celebrate."
