King Charles appoints two new deputy lieutenants for Moray - Richard Forsyth from Rothes and Lucy Mackenzie from Hopeman
King Charles has appointed two new deputy lieutenants for Moray in the shape of Richard Forsyth and Lucy Mackenzie.
Richard is the managing director of Forsyths of Rothes the world’s premier producers of copper stills. He’s actively involved with Rothes Football Club and, through the Forsyth Foundation, supports many local clubs, events and individuals.
Richard said: “I feel privileged to be chosen to represent the Rothes area and look forward to discharging any duties bestowed upon me to the best of my abilities.”
Lucy was also born in Moray, returning to region in 2002 after a number of jobs in the UK and abroad. She has been involved with voluntary organisations for much of her life and was a joint organiser of the Burgie International Horse Trials.
Now a full-time gardener, Lucy and her husband, Roddy, have become involved in Gordonstoun School as educational guardians for overseas students.
She said: “It is a great honour to be joining the Lieutenancy team. I look forward to working closely with communities in my local area.”
The pair replace Joanna Grant Peterkin, who has retired, and Lisa Kerr who is moving to Edinburgh.
Major General Seymour Monro, the Lord-Lieutenant, praised the contributions made by both.
He said: “They were fully active members of the lieutenancy team.
“Joanna was notably involved in running the Moray Badge Platinum Jubilee in 2021/2022 which encouraged over 5000 pupils from 50 schools to take part in various challenges. It was so successful that it is being started up on a permanent basis this coming year.”
“Lisa as the principal of Gordonstoun was also much involved in the Moray Badge Platinum Jubilee. She has hosted no less than three royal visits over the past four years.
“We wish her every success in her new appointment as principal of George Watson’s School in Edinburgh.”
