37 new cases of coronavirus confirmed in Moray within the last week

THIRTY-SEVEN new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Moray in the last week, taking the area's total since the outbreak began to 1521.

This is a reduction on the 49 cases confirmed in last Wednesday's update, but remains slightly up on the 29 confirmed two weeks ago.

With no further deaths recorded, the area's toll remains at 39.

Of the 39 people to have died coronavirus-related deaths in Moray, 10 have had the virus mentioned on their death certificate, while 29 tested positive for Covid-19 and passed away within 28 days.

The number of negative tests confirmed in Moray since April 13 is 485, which is slightly down on the 507 negative cases confirmed in last week's update.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 14,833 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began. That's an increase of 140 on the 14,693 reported last week.

Moray neighbourhood update

Between April 12 and April 18, 17 cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Elgin.

Bishopmill East and Ladyhill (six); Elgin Central West (four); Elgin Cathedral to Ashgrove and Pinefield (four) and New Elgin East (three) were all affected.

No other place in Moray had more than three positive cases of the virus between these dates.

Scotland-wide update

Today's daily update shows 273 people in Scotland have tested positive for coronavirus overnight, with the death of one person who tested positive for the virus confirmed.

During the week ending April 14, 20,344 people were newly-tested with 1545 testing positive for the first time.

Since the outbreak began, 1,889,442 people in Scotland have been tested at least once, with 224,365 positive and 1,665,077 negative.

During the week ending April 18, 24 deaths were registered where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

As of April 21, Scotland's death toll is 10,055. A total of 7643 people have died after testing positive for Covid-19.

A total of 14 people are in intensive care in relation to Covid-19, with 107 patients in hospital.

In total, 15,353 patients who have tested positive for Covid-19 have been released from hospital since March 5, 2020.
