A PLANT operator from Forres won a new car after paying just £2.50 to enter an online competition.

Kenny Gordon, of Darwin Drive, took the gamble after his partner Amanda saw adverts for Bounty Competitions on social media and was thrilled when she answered the call to confirm they had won a Toyota Yaris Hybrid.

Kenny said: “We were both a bit wary of the draw at first as we weren’t sure if it was a scam. But we saw their vehicle in KFC a few weeks later, so decided to give them a follow on Facebook. They support local charities, including The Archie Foundation, so I decided to buy a ticket from their website. The prices range from 99p to £4.99. You name it, they raffle it, from TVs to PlayStations, classic cars to top of the range super cars, and bouncy castles to designer handbags. During the week they do live streaming of the items and use a Google generator to pick a winner so everyone can see.”

Kenny was watching on the night he won, but had switched off before the announcement.

He said: “I had someone trying to WhatsApp video me from a number I didn’t recognise. Then they called – Amanda answered and it was Leanne, from Bounty Competitions. When she said we’d won we were shocked, we couldn’t believe it! Leanne explained she would be in touch to arrange delivery.”

A few days later, Kenny received a call from Calvin at Bounty Competitions to arrange delivery and Amanda was there to receive it at their house that afternoon.

“Our families were shocked too,” said Kenny. “They couldn’t believe it. We had numerous messages from friends saying that they have either played and not won yet, or that they are thinking about playing, but weren’t sure if it is a scam. So it’s nice for them to know that someone they know has won!”

Kenny and Amanda are keeping the car.

Kenny added: “It’s handy having a second vehicle!”

Leanne and Calvin Davidson, of Bounty Competitions run the competition, from their base at Hillhead Drive, Ellon.

Leanne explained: “We give everyone the chance to win big and small prizes for the price of a coffee. A year in and we have given away over £6 million in prizes.

“The Moray area is booming at the moment – Kris, from Lossiemouth, won a VW Campervan; Claire Munro, from Elgin, won £33k; Colin, from Mosstodloch, won a 2019 Yamaha XSR900 and Joseph Flett, from Kingston, won a Mercedes Benz CLA45!”

Calvin added: “A huge congratulations to Kenny on winning the Yaris. It’s a fantastic little car that he will have great use of.

“Whether it’s a laptop or a Ferrari, every win is a special one!”
