Weekly-high 18 cases of coronavirus recorded in Moray in last seven days with total reaching 158

EIGHTEEN new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Moray in the last week, taking the area's total to 158.

This is the highest number of covid-19 cases confirmed in one week across the area since the outbreak began.

A case of coronavirus has been confirmed in Moray every day since October 3, with a daily high of six recorded on October 8.

Since October 6, a total of 466 negative covid-19 tests have been returned by residents of Moray. The area continues to have fewer cases of covid-19 than any other mainland area in Scotland.

The most recent death update showed 21 people in Moray have died due to covid-19. Of those, 13 tested positive and died within 28 days and eight had the virus mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 2816 cases of coronavirus. That's 331 new cases confirmed since last week's update.

Scotland-wide update

Today's daily update shows 1429 people in Scotland have tested positive for coronavirus overnight, with 15 deaths of people who tested positive for the virus confirmed.

During the week ending October 14, 50,699 people were newly tested with 7925 testing positive. That's up on the 5516 who tested positive the week prior from 44,027 newly-tested individuals.

Since the outbreak began, a total of 871,685 people in Scotland have been tested for covid-19, with 42,685 positive and 829,000 negative.

In the week ending October 11, 25 deaths were recorded where covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate – taking the total to 4301 since the outbreak began. Of those, 2572 tested positive and died within 28 days.

A total of 49 people are in intensive care in relation to covid-19, with 570 in hospital.

In total, 4748 patients who have tested positive for covid-19 have been released from hospital since March 5.
