144 cases of coronavirus confirmed in Moray within the last week

A FURTHER 144 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Moray within the last seven days, taking the area's total since the outbreak began to 2276.

This is slightly up on the 142 cases confirmed in last Wednesday's update. Meanwhile, 462 negative Covid-19 tests have been confirmed since July 14, up two from 460 last week.

With no new deaths recorded, the number of people to have died due to Covid-19 in Moray remains 40.

Of those 40, 30 have tested positive for Covid-19 and passed away within 28 days, while 10 had the virus mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 22,143 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began.

That's an increase of 1005 since last week's update.

Neighbourhood areas

Twenty different 'neighbourhood areas' in Moray confirmed at least three cases of coronavirus between July 12 and July 18.

The worst hit towns are Elgin with 37 cases Buckie, with 36 and Forres with 19.

Lossiemouth has nine cases, while the Findhorn, Kinloss and Pluscarden Valley area has 17 cases.

Other areas with cases are: Rafford, Dallas, Dyke to Dava (9), Burghead, Roseisle and Laich (7), Lhanbryde, Urquhart, Pitgavney and seaward (6), North Speyside (5), Cullen, Portknockie, Findochty, Drybridge and Berryhillock (5), Heldon West, Fogwatt to Inchberry (5) and Mosstodloch, Portgordon and seaward (4).

Scotland-wide update

Across Scotland in the last week, 40,896 people were newly-tested for Covid-19 with 12,939 testing positive for the first time.

Since the outbreak began, 2,406,218 people in Scotland have been tested at least once, with 334,141 positive and 2,072,077 negative.

During the week ending July 18, 47 deaths were registered where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate. That's up on last week's total of 30.

Scotland's death toll from coronavirus is 10,268. A total of 7820 people have died after testing positive for Covid-19.

A total of 51 people are in intensive care in relation to Covid-19, with 529 patients in hospital.

In total, 17,181 patients who have tested positive for Covid-19 have been released from hospital since March 5, 2020.
