TWO kickboxers from Forres competed for the World Kickboxing Association (WKA) Scottish team at the Unified World Championships in Italy.
Emma Miller (18) and Jason Cracknell (16), who both train with Murdo Mackenzie at the Sansum Black Belt Academy club, returned with seven medals between them.
It was Emma’s first experience of starring for the Scotland team after she secured a place by finishing second in the WKA Scottish championships back in February. Her hard work was rewarded on her first time out with two golds and two silvers for Scotland.
Emma’s medal haul started with a silver in the ladies over-18 teams, then a second silver fighting up a category into the ladies light contact, a tough category for an 18-year-old.
In her own categories, 18 years and under points and light contact, Emma walked away with two golds.
Jason Cracknell has now been selected on three occasions for the Scotland team. Along with Emma, he also qualified in February at the WKA Scottish Championship becoming double Scottish champion and returned from Italy with two silvers and a bronze.
The first silver was for teams, with Scottish head coach Andy McCracken saying it was the most exciting fight he had ever seen.
Jason brought back seven points to level the score with five seconds to go and then scored the winning point in the semifinals against the Italian’s in the last second.
His second silver was in the 18 and under light contact and he also won a bronze in points.
Emma and Jason will be back in competition at the beginning of next year.
