SKATERS and BMX-ers are being encouraged to pop down to the community’s pop-up ramp this weekend.
Forres Skate Park Initiative (FSPI) and Forres Area Community Trust (FACT) are holding two ramp sessions to mark the end of Scottish Week.
FACT community development worker Vicky Flood hopes the events keep the town’s need for a permanent facility in mind.
She said: “They are being held to raise awareness that a skate park skate park is still on the agenda and to encourage are people to get involved in the campaign.
“There are several areas where the group needs support to drive this forward including utilising the pop up ramp more and transporting it to events. We also need help developing a permanent skate park in or around Forres. The Forres 2020 vision outcomes clearly states there is a need for a skate park in the area.”
The half-pipe will be set up in Anderson’s playground during the Toun Mercat on Friday, June 8 then on Sunday, June 10 from 10am-4pm at the Tesco overflow carpark on Nairn Road.
The ramp is currently housed at The Loft in Kinloss, soon to be opened to skaters on a donation-only basis.
Three volunteers are assuming responsibility at The Loft and for pop up events planned throughout the year.
