A LOCAL distillery aims to expand to meet increasing demand for Scotch whiskies worldwide.
Plans for an increase in warehouse capacity at Benromach will be on display in the visitor centre on Wednesday, January 17 from 2pm to 7pm.
Managing director at owners Gordon and MacPhail, Ewen Mackintosh, confirmed the expansion will allow for greater production.
He said: “Over time, we will need more warehousing space to set down the spirit which will eventually become Benromach Speyside Singly Malt Whisky.”
The new warehouses will lie to the west of the existing distillery on the edge of Forres.
Mr Macintosh added: “We have been part of the community for the last 25 years since we brought the distillery back to life, and we are continuing to invest and grow as more people get to know Benromach.”
Attendees to the distillery event will be able to ask employees questions about the plans and what they will mean for the area.
Feedback will be provided before the final planning application is made later in the year.
The application can also be viewed at the office of LDN Architects, St Leonards Road, Forres by prior arrangement by calling 01309 673221.
