A VISION of the town in the future will be launched this week.
The Forres 2020 Vision Action Plan will be displayed and discussed on Wednesday, November 29 from 7-8pm in Forres Town Hall’s lesser hall.
Moray Council community support officer Sylvia Jamieson explained the event is the culmination of a local Planning for Real project inspired by the ‘Spirit of Community’ meeting at the same venue in 2015.
She said: “Spirit of Community was about having one consultation and plan for the green spaces and public buildings of Forres.
“A working group consisting of eight members of the community and local groups took the process forward. “This involved over 300 people attending biweekly sessions in the Town Hall to build a 3D model of Forres, supported by Moray Council’s community support unit and development plans.
“The model was then used to consult the community last winter about their ideas and issues, using flags placed on the map.”
Over 4,000 views were expressed, collated and analysed, leading to two prioritisation events in May looking at projects under the top four themes: Environment and Sustainability; Leisure and Tourism; Traffic Transport and Access; and Facilities and Services.
The results are the Action Plan which will link to the draft Open Space Strategy and Local Development Plan for Forres.
Ms Jamieson added: “These will involve local groups and community planning partners in improving Forres for residents and visitors.
“Everyone is welcome to come along and have a cup of tea and pick up a copy of the plan and hear more about what happens next.”
