PICTURES: North District cross-country series ends with Grant Park event as Forres Harriers feature among the winners

The sun shone for the fifth and final race of the North District Cross Country league, hosted by Forres Harriers, writes Susan McRitchie.

The course running over the rolling undualations of Grant Park and then the challenging hills of Cluny.

First Harrier running on the day was Noah Ward in the under-11 boys race, finishing 29th, followed by Ava Farish in the under-13 girls race, her first time running for the club, finishing 13th.

Another first-timer was Broden Waterston in the under-13 boys race, finishing 21st. John Scott ran in the under-15 boys race and came home in 20th.

The senior ladies and men ran together, a grand sight to see over 120 runners snaking their way round the park, then on to the hills of Cluny.

There was a good show of the Harrier red vests running in the senior race, with ten female and seven male runners.

Moira Davie had another strong race to finish third female, followed up by Anna MacFadyen in eighth, Susan McRitchie 14th, Kathryn Barr 16th, Kasia Klonowska 17th, Carrie Ann Ward 19th, Jackie Nicol 28th, Donna Wallace 31st, Katrina Rowe 32nd and Ros Wright 44th.

The ladies team finished second on the day while the men's team was third with strong running from Ray Hughes 18th, Bruce Evans 19th, Daniel Irvine 30th in his first run for the club, David Weir 31st, Grant Symon 47th, Mike Savage 48th and Tim Pott 61st.

After the racing, it was over to Forres Town Hall for the trophy presentation for the league.

Forres Harriers played host and managed to scoop a few of the prizes.

Moira Davie was second senior female and second overall in the league, Susan McRitchie was second in F40, Hilary Cameron second in F50 and Jackie Nicol taking home the inaugural winner's trophy for the F60 ladies.

David Weir matched Nicol's result, taking home the first winner's trophy for the M60 males.
