FORRES runners helped fly the flag for Moray at the recent North District Cross Country Championships.

Runners from across the north-east and Highlands converged at Gordonstoun School for the annual clash of running talent.

Competitors from Highland clubs were to dominate the standings, but Forres Harriers duo Bruce Evans and Moira Davie were to secure top three finishes in their races.

Evans' time of 22.47 earned him a bronze in the U20 6.5k while in the W35 contest a finish in 32.00 was enough for Davie to walk away with a silver medal as reward for her efforts.

A number of other Moray runners claimed a top three slot in their respective categories. Young Buckie runner Roy Taylor (Elgin Amateur Athletics Club) claimed gold in the U17 Men 5.5k category, taking the tape in a time of 20.02 while Grace Jenkins (Moray Road Runners) came third in the U20 Women 6.5k with a time of 31.45. Jenkins' club colleague Kenny Wilson earned a silver in the Sen Mas Men 8k, finishing in 25.37.

In the W35 race it was a gold Louise Cartmell (Moray Road Runners), her time of 31.45 winning her the category crown.

Moray Road Runners scored a first and second in the M35 thanks to Adam Baker (26.27) and Sam Milton (27.52).

The club repeated the feat in the M40, gold going to Matthew Blunden (26.31) and silver to Ben Livesey (26.54).
