Chance for Forres Golfer to claim same European Nations Cup silverware won in the past by Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia and Shane Lowry

Forres golfer Matty Wilson has been selected for the European Nations Cup in Spain next month.

Wilson was chosen as one of four Scots unveiled by the Scottish Golf selectors.

His notable victories in 2022 included winning the Toro Tour European Pro Winter Series 1 and 2, and the Battle Trophy at Crail.

Wilson also took part in the African Amateur Strokeplay Championships, finishing ninth, while he was fifth at the South African Strokeplay Championships having led after the opening round.

Last year he also won the Battle Trophy and Craigmillar Park Open, as well as two events on the Andalucean Golf Series.

Wilson is joined in the Scotland team by Blairgowrie pair Connor Graham and Gregor Graham, and Gregor Tait (Aldeburgh)

The tournament takes place at Sotogrande on April 19 to 23. Previous winners include Sergio García, Rory Mcllroy, Padraig Harrington, Francesco Molinari and Shane Lowry.
