Taster sessions held at Forres Bowling Club have proved to be a big success.
Fresh from opening their green for the summer season, the St Catherine’s Road club invited anyone interested in the sport or keen to join up opportunity to try out the facilities last weekend.
Anyone who didn’t manage to join the taster event but would still like to give bowls a shot or return to the sport, contact Alex Porter on 07876 684203 or email portergeist2607@hotmail.com and something can be arranged.
The first unofficial hat-night of the season at the club was won by Peggy Locke, Skibo McKenzie and Gary Mackie. Despite losing a five, the trio won all three sets.
Alex Porter was in command going into the penultimate end. However he succeeded in moving the jack and ended up losing four shots.
Brian Riddell led 7-3 after only three ends. He let the opposition in thereafter.
There was a lot of high-scoring ends in Malcolm Swinswood's evening. Although he lost all three sets, there was little in any of the games.
Scores: G Mackie 4 up; A Porter 3 down; B Riddell 3 down; M Swinswood 4 down.
Skibo McKenzie was also successful at the weather interrupted Thursday Hat-Night.
Gary Mackie led Derek Sobey 5-3 after the initial handful of ends, before a four at the next turned the tables. Louise Morris
joined McKenzie and Sobey as they ran out 11-6 victors.
