Police Scotland have issued their monthly local crime report to Forres Community Council

KNIFE crime features in this month’s local community report from Police Scotland.

The Moray West Community Council Report for Forres includes instances of antisocial behaviour, violence and disorder as well as acquisitive crime, road safety and offences.

Neil Morrison is the new police inspector for the Lossiemouth, Fochabers, Forres and Speyside community policing teams.

During March, a male youth was arrested, interviewed and charged in relation to carrying a knife in a public place. He was reported to have caused fear and alarm to two females in their property. He was released on an undertaking with special conditions to protect the victims.

A man was arrested and charged with a communications offence. Medical staff informed police that he had made threats to harm his ex-landlord. He will be reported to the procurator fiscal.

There were three reports of shoplifting from commercial premises. Two have been detected and two people have been held in custody to attend court.

Enquiries are on-going into theft and fraud. A bank card was stolen and £500 was withdrawn from the account before an online transaction of almost £200 was attempted. The male responsible has been identified from CCTV and will be dealt with in due course.

A man has been reported for using a mobile phone while driving. He has pending previous road traffic offences.

Another man has been reported for driving while being three times over the legal limit for alcohol. The manner of driving was reported by a member of the public and the driver was later traced at home.

Finally, a man has been charged and his vehicle seized by police after it was found to have no insurance, no MOT and two defective tyres.
