WATCH: Moray and Banffshire Heroes Primary Pupil of the Year is helping a friend in need

A Findochty six-year-old who fundraises to help a family friend who has cerebral palsy was named Primary Pupil of the Year at the Moray and Banffshire Heroes.

Delilah Clark took it upon herself to walk five miles from her home to her granny’s house to raise much-needed funds for her young friend.

Tilly, who is now three years old, relies on therapies and equipment provided by the NHS and private professionals to help her manage her symptoms.

After winning the award Delilah said: “I am very happy I have won. I'm doing this because my friend Tilly cannot walk and I'm trying to raise money for her so she can get a wheelchair. It's hard for her to walk.”

Sarah, Delilah’s mum, said: “When she heard about Tilly she immediately wanted to know what she could do to help.

“She raised more than £1000, which paid for Tilly to have a whole week of private intensive therapy.”

Her nomination said: “Delilah told her mum she’d be willing to give Tilly her legs to help her walk, what a beautiful little soul.”

Delilah also organised a bake sale, car wash and raffles to raise funds.

Her mum added: “Delilah is absolutely buzzing when she raises funds and then finds out how Tilly’s family are going to use them.

“She regularly sends Tilly videos explaining her next fundraising plan and how she hopes it will help her.”

The Primary Pupil of the Year award was sponsored by GrainTek.
