THE Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) has confirmed six appliances were called out to a blaze in the centre of Forres on Tuesday night.

Police and an ambulance also attended the incident in the early part of the evening which resulted in a 34-year-old man b taken to hospital but later released.

An SFRS spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 7.18pm on April 9 to reports of a dwelling fire in Forres.

"Operations Control mobilised six fire appliances to the town's Urquhart Street, where firefighters extinguished the fire and worked to make the area safe before leaving the scene.

"One casualty was left in the care of Scottish Ambulance Service personnel."

Police cordoned off adjoining South Street from the roundabout to High Street while the incident was dealt with.

Officers are working with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to establish the cause.
