AFTER the success of MacMoray Festival in Elgin, organiser Andy Macdonald is looking forward to bringing two big events to Forres this summer.

The British Pipe Band Championships, to be branded MacPiping Hot Forres, is a month away - taking place on June 8 - and that will be followed by Forres Fest at Mosset Park on June 29.

Andy, who runs the Carlton Hotel in town, was desperate to bring a piping event back to town after constantly hearing about how well-loved it was.

He is also delighted to be teaming up with Forres Mechanics to bring Forres Fest - headlined by Bay City Rollers - to town for the very first time.

First, though, it’s time for a rest after a hectic weekend entertaining 10,000 people at Elgin’s Cooper Park, with acts such as Blue and Peter Andre performing.

“Give me a couple of weeks to hide away, then I’ll get on with MacPiping Hot, then I’ll get on with the Forres Fest and then it’s Summer MacMoray,” Andy said.

“I’m really, really tired and sleep-deprived. I’ve not slept all week, but the adrenalin rush keeps you going. Now I just want to go to bed!

“But I’ve absolutely loved it. Overall, I’m happy. It’s been class, it’s been really good.”

Two Forres-area bands performed at MacMoray - with Be Like Pablo and Bad Actress rubbing shoulders with some famous popstars at the Elgin event.

Both bands played on the festival’s second stage on Sunday, with Be Like Pablo set to return to the stage at Mosset Park on June 29.
