FORRES moved yet another step closer to having its hydrotherapy pool up and running this week when a building warrant was finally granted by Moray Council.

The facilty, which has had a troubled development process, is being built by the Moray (Dolphin) Hydrotherapy Pool Trust alongside the swimming pool, with ongoing fundraising paying for its running. Moray Council last month agreed to back it to the tune of £20,000 a year for three years if necessary. The pool will provide water-based exercise therapy for people suffering from a variety of conditions such as multiple sclerosis, arthritis and back and joint pain. It will also help people recovering from sports injuries. The pool is being paid for with £265,000 of money raised by people throughout Moray. Springfield Properties will construct the building's shell, worth an estimated £200,000, free of charge. Pool campaigners told the 'Gazette' on Monday that they were delighted with the news and hopes are high that building can begin as soon as possible. Related articles: |
