The event which is taking place on Saturday, September 27, is being held in a marquee on the station. All proceeds from the gig will be split between three good causes – Dr Gray's children's ward, Help for Heroes and the RAF Benevolent Fund. An RAF spokesman said that organisers are hoping to raise more than £3000, dependent on the numbers attending. The bands include the Wallbirds, Would Be Kings; the Down and Outs; Special Edition; The Movement; The Wyre and one cover band the Amy Winehouse Tribute Show. Notably, the Wallbirds have just been signed by Sony, and are currently recording their first CD, while the Would Be Kings, Down and Outs and The Movement have all played at recent festivals such as T in the Park, the Loch Lomond Festival, Belladrum and the Leeds Festival. Members of The Wyre – the only "local band" – come from Forres. The event begins at 6.30pm and finishes at 1am. Tickets are £17.50 but due to security restrictions are reserved for RAF personnel and their friends and family only. |
