FORRES photographer Scott Hogg could be forgiven for feeling snap happy after scooping a clutch of prestigious photography awards at a special event.

Mr Hogg (31), whose parents, Mariel and Sandy, live in the St Leonards area of Forres, has been a professional photographer for nearly 10 years.

He started to become interested in camera work when he was a teenager. His interest grew and he now runs a successful business, "Scott Hogg Photography", between the Aberdeen and Moray areas.

He is looking forward to a busy 2008 and has already started with this year's busy wedding circuit, including taking photographs at a handful of weddings in the Forres area, with several booked for the coming season.

He told the "Forres Gazette" that he was over the moon at winning, particularly as the competition is run by a professional organisation.

Not just that, but he confessed that he had only decided to enter one of the categories at the last minute, submitting a photo of an Aberdeen wedding taken last month.

However, the last-minute decision to submit the photo taken at the Silver Darlings Restaurant in Aberdeen, overlooking the harbour, paid off.

And at the Master Photographers Association's awards which were held in Edinburgh on March 30, he was rewarded with not just one but five first prizes in different categories.

Among his achievements were "Scotland's Most Promising Contemporary Wedding Photographer for 2008" and "Scotland's Most Promising Scottish Photographer of the Year" also for 2008.

Forres photographer Scott Hogg receives the award for Scotland's best up and coming professional wedding photographer from Julie Oswin at a glittering event held in Edinburgh.

"I surprised myself," said Mr Hogg.

"It is only the second year I have entered, and I couldn't believe that I had won, let alone the best promising photographer awards."

Mr Hogg said the achievement was all the more special as he was awarded by the MPA, which is a professional organisation for master photographers, and a real pat on the back by his peers.

"All its members are full-time photographers and undergo a rigorous assessment of their work," said Mr Hogg, who was doubly delighted as he had been up against some stiff competition, with a total of 850 entries submitted for the same categories as him.

He was also delighted to be presented with his awards by professional photographer and author Julie Oswin.

As well as a clutch of trophies, he was presented with a special storybook wedding album.
