A FORRES-based nutritional therapist is hoping that her new book will give people the push they need to become more healthy.

Sara Kirkham, who has been a lecturer at Moray College for the past couple of years, has a BSc in nutritional medicine and recently had her first book published.

'Eating for Health' has been published in the Hodder 'Teach Yourself' range and is a simple guide to healthy eating and improving diet.

Sara is hoping that her book will be an easy way for people to kick start a new healthy eating regime, with easy-to-follow advice.

Sara, who works as a nutritionist and nutritional therapist in Nairn and Forres, also teaches nutrition for fitness, health and exercise, exercise anatomy and physiology, and anatomy and physiology for complementary therapy.

She was formerly a nutrition consultant and weight-loss expert for David Lloyd Leisure, where she developed successful diet and weight loss programmes for thousands of members in addition to developing the company's nutrition website.

Local practitioners from the Forres Healthworks Centre, nutritionist Sara Kirkham and LaStone therapist Lois MacDonald, were among those who were on hand at the Forres Library Open Day event, showing people how to enjoy better health and enjoy relaxation.

Although she has spent many years writing articles, websites, leaflets, booklets and programmes for companies in the health and fitness industry, she is excited about her book.

"As well as providing easy tips to eat a superfood-rich diet, my book gives realistic ways to eat for health," she said, "rather than providing yet another diet that is impossible to achieve for the average busy person."

Her second book, called 'Teach Yourself Running', is due to be published in March.

The first 'Teach Yourself' book was published in 1938, since when more than 50 million people have read up on over 750 subjects.
