Old Pulteney 21 Years Old wins 'world whisky of the year' in Jim Murray's 2012 Whisky Bible awards

Established in 1826, Pulteney Distillery is the most northerly on the Scottish mainland. A tour is the ideal way to experience the traditional methods of producing our award-winning single malt whisky.

Old Pulteney 21 Years Old received the title of world whisky of the year in Jim Murray's 2012 Whisky Bible awards, coming out on top in a class of some 1500 whiskies from across the globe.

World-renowned whisky connoisseur Jim Murray nosed and tasted his way through all types of whisky to create his global ratings guide. He gave Old Pulteney 21 Years Old 97.5 points out of 100, the highest score in the book's history.

His glowing review commented that the single malt exploded from the glass with vitality, charisma and class.

While the Whisky Bible accolade has led to a massive surge of orders for Old Pulteney 21 Years Old, the distillery's 12 and 17-year-old malts are also seeing soaring demand.

You can purchase your own hand-filled bottle of cask-strength whisky, as chosen by the distillery manager for its excellent quality and taste. Pulteney's fascinating history is brought to life by the distillery's excellent visitor centre and gift shop.

The distillery silent season takes place during July and August, and during this time tours may be disrupted. Please call in advance to avoid disappointment. The distillery is closed for the festive period.
