Local youngsters are superstars

the Primary 6 and 7 pupils from ten local primary schools were taking part in the Schools Superstars event.

The children from Hopeman, Alves, Hythehill, St Geraldine’s, Burghead, Dyke, Pilmuir, Applegrove, Andersons, Dallas, Logie, and  Kinloss Primary Schools went head to head on Friday, November 25.

They were up against, the current champions, Kinloss Primary School who were competing on home turf in the morning of challenging and fun sporting events.

Ten pupils who had been selected by their own school competed in teams against the other schools to foster team working and competition.

Event organiser, Flight Sergeant Stewart Bruce from Logistics Support Squadron said the activities ranged from badminton, skipping, basketball to an obstacle course, carrying a crash mat the length of the gym, and a climbing event.

“It’s great to see so many youngsters coming along and having a go at some things they may not have tried before,” he said. “It’s a brilliant way to improve team spirit and I hope that all of the pupils leave with a smile on their faces.”

He said it was a whole team effort and he was grateful to volunteers for helping and to Maynes Coaches for getting 120 school children and their teachers to the airbase for the event.’

It was also supported by the Active Schools Co-ordinators for Forres and Lossiemouth, and eleven RAF Kinloss personnel.

The aim was to score the maximum number of points.  Winners this year were Hythehill from Lossiemouth.
