FORRES ST LAWRENCE Cricket Club's end of season get-together featured a seven-a-side tournament, with teams selected from a mixture of first and second XI players.
Before the final of the sevens, 14 younger cricketers entertained older players and parents with a Kwik cricket match.
The presentation of trophies followed, with president Steve Hogley outlining the club's achievements during the season.
These included the first XI finishing in the top six in the league and topping it off with a magnificent knockout cup final victory over Inverness rivals, Highland. He also highlighted the achievement of Forres fielding a second team for the first time since 1996 and noted that the development of the junior members in the team had been impressive. It was also satisfying to see the Kwik cricketing squad increasing in numbers.
Trophy winners: Second XI: The Pat Hope shield for bowling (most wickets) - Steve Hogley; Guthrie Cup for batting (most runs) - Ryan Rose; President's Cup player of the year - Jon Benn; Barbara Boswell Shield for young player of the year - Callum Hodges
First XI: Cooper Rosebowl for bowling (most wickets) and Penang Shield for batting (most runs) - Gus Farr; Dicksons of Forres Shield for player of the year - Nigel Gerrard; Jack Kemp Cup for young player of the year - Aaron Roberts; Cluny Hill Shield for services to the club - Graham Watson.
The presentation was followed by the final of the sevens' tournament, won by team McGrath.
Winter coaching will take place at Forres Academy games hall on Monday evenings, starting on October 24, 6.30pm to 7.30pm for Kwik cricketers and 7.45pm-9.15pm for hardball juniors.
Club captain Nigel Gerrard praised the efforts of the First XI in their achievements in the league and cup and presented mementoes to the 19 players who had contributed to the success.
