A SUCCESSFUL summer scheme for youngsters whose parents work on the base was held at RAF Kinloss.
The Funtazia scheme takes place over two weeks in the school holidays, providing activities and outings for children aged 5 to 11, whose parents are employed at the base.
Children taking part this year will probably be the last ones to enjoy the fun, with the base ceasing to be an RAF facility in the near future.
However, this year’s fun packed event, which was held over the last week in July and first week in August, was a tremendous success.
Flight Sergeant Andy Crowley, who organised this year’s venture, said the success of the scheme was down to the commitment of volunteers, without whom it would not have run.
"The youngsters have all had a fabulous time, even though the weather hasn’t really been on-side," he added.
The children were divided into two age groups, enjoying fun activities and adventure.
They went on trips to Landmark and the Black Isle Wildlife Park and took part in lots of homegrown fun on the bouncy castle and getting their faces painted.
The scheme is unlikely to run again in the future, with most servicemen and civilian workers from RAF Kinloss being posted away or made redundant, as the base prepares to enter a phase of care and maintenance before being handed back to the Ministry of Defence. The Army is expected to move in around 2013.
