A LOCAL petrol station was targeted by smash-n-grab thieves in the early hours of this morning.
Police are making enquiries following the crime at the Greshop garage - known locally as the Matrix - on Nairn Road.
Thieves used brickwork to shatter the front door window pane, entering the premises at around 1.20am.
It is believed there was a low value theft but details are still being finalised.
Officers are following a positive line of enquiry and appeal to anyone with information to come forward.
One woman who lives nearby helped a neighbour clean-up broken bottles this morning from outside their houses.
She said: "There were carrier bags that appeared to be from the garage with broken bottles in them.
"We heard the door at the Matrix had been smashed, and there had been a break-in.
"I just assumed they had stolen bottles of boozes."
The neighbour also told the Gazette the carrier bags were smeared with blood and wondered if the culprits had cut themselves.
