The number of young people gaining top awards in Forres has increased, matching the national trend for ‘best ever’ pass rates at Credit and Higher levels.

"These are by far our best results in the past six years and huge congratulations must go to all our young people who have done so well and worked so hard, to the parents for all their support and to staff for all their efforts in working with our students," said head teacher Laurence Findlay. "We are very proud of the results of this year’s cohort."

The percentage of youngsters gaining five Credit awards at the end of S4 has risen from 36% last year to 40% in 2012.

S5 results are equally as impressive with 54% gaining one Higher, a rise of 3% from last year. 24% of the year group attained three Highers while 16% achieved five Highers, a further increase of 4% on 2011.

Mr Findlay gave a special mention to the five Academy pupils who gained five ‘A’s at Higher level, Alexandra Chapman, Kevin Featherstone, Hannah Todd, Michael Williams and Craig Young

He said: "Gaining five As is a significant achievement, so well done to all."
