Minister praises council with Forres members

A SCOTTISH Government minister has welcomed the passing of Moray Council’s latest budget.

Local Government Minister Derek Mackay made the comments after the authority approved what it described as a "light touch" package.

Council tax will remain frozen and few cuts have been made but members have stated saving will need to be found in the future.

"We work closely with local government to deliver better outcomes for people and communities," Mr Mackay said. "Our funding to freeze the council tax and maintain teacher and police numbers is benefiting every household in Moray. I am pleased that Moray Council has now agreed its budget for next year, accepting the package the Scottish Government has put forward."

Forres is represeented on the council by four members: Lee Bell, Lorna Cresswell, Jeff Hamilton and Irene Ogilvie.
