Don't forget Bogton

We have been coming to Forres for over twenty something years but have only been residents here for over nine years, this perhaps still makes us incomers, I hope not.

We have fought for everything that we consider good for Forres, for the post office, for another store now closed on the High Street as well as marching for Kinloss.

Near our house in Bogton Road there is a gas utility which is fenced in, the ground had weeds which were badly overgrown. The Council didn’t help, everyone seemed to pass the complaint on to some other body.

After much searching I discovered I should be in touch with Transco. I phoned them regarding the situation; they sent out a representative who was very nice, he sprayed the weeds and promised to return with a few tons of pebbles; this he did and it looked really nice.

I don’t know if it was ever noticed by any councillor.

A few years ago we asked to speak to a councillor regarding the speed of traffic coming round Bogton Road from Caroline Street.

The councillor was very nice but said there was no money at present for a pavement or something to stop the traffic. A little cat had been killed, which although not a person was very distressing for the owner.

Another neighbour has said she is afraid to take her grandson out the gate because of the speed of the cars.

Last time we asked for the moon, this time we tried for the stars, so I took another letter in and asked for it to be given to our councillor but was told it was no longer a specific councillor who would deal with our area.

I left the letter, hoping we could perhaps get a sign that asked drivers to slow down. I guess there is still no money, not even for a sign.

We have never received an acknowldgement and a lot of weeks have now passed. A lot of nice people live in this area who keep their homes in lovely condition. Bogton is badly needing a facelift.

Perhaps the Council is aware of something wonderful which is going to happen to this area, if so it would be nice to hear about it.

I wonder how it would look if the next time the group who come to look at ‘Forres in Bloom’ were asked to extend their stay and come and see ‘Bogton in Bloom?,’

We deserve better! Praise where it is due. Both during and after a football match in Bogton Football ground the behaviour of the football fans is superb, never any arguing or shouting or litter dropped in the street, just a nod if they pass the garden. Win or lose.
