THE Forres Townswomens Guild have decided to call an end to the group, following nearly eight decades in the town.
The decision was taken at the group's February meeting, and comes just weeks after another women's group in the town - The Eastern Star decided to fold due to a lack of membership, and with no younger women joining.
The Townswomen's Guild will come to an end after their March meeting.
A Guild spokesperson said that it was not a decision taken easily, but was also due to the fact that current members are getting older, but no young women are joining the group, to take it forward into the future.
Rather than go out in a sad way, the membership will celebrate 76 years in Forres, and in true Townswomens style, they have decided to hold a small farewell party and enjoy entertainment from The GreenBrae Gaugers at the event.
This will help to mark the seven plus decades of good work in the town.
It is hoped that all present members will attend on Wednesday, March 7 to celebrate what would have been the Guild’s 76th Birthday.
