FORRES horticulture will be celebrated once again this Saturday at the town’s 81st annual flower show.
As the town awaits Britain in Bloom’s Champion of Champions’ title announcement, local greenfingers will battle it out to win prizes of their own.
“Last year’s show was good and colourful,” said management committee chairman, Bill Shand.
“Let us hope this year’s will be the same. You never know what the seasons are doing these days, but they should bring plenty to our show.”
Categories at Forres Town Hall include flowers, pot plants, fruit and vegetables of many varieties.
There are also sections for arts and crafts, honey and domestic produce, such as jam, biscuits, cakes and sweets.
Children’s skills will be rewarded with awards for drawings, plasticine models, bookmarks and miniature gardens, amongst other categories.
Teas will be available from 10am until noon with the doors to the main event open from 1pm-4.30pm. Trophies for all categories will be presented at 4pm with an auction to follow at 5pm.
Entry for adults is £1.50 and just 50p for children under 16.
