POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a fatal collision outside Forres.
At around 1.35am on Wednesday, September 20, police, fire and ambulance services attended a one-car crash on the unclassified road leading from Forres to Califer Hill, near Wester Newforres.
The driver of the red Vauxhall Corsa, a 24-year-old woman from the area, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The front seat passenger, a 31-year-old man, suffered minor injuries and is currently being treated in Dr Gray’s Hospital, Elgin. The rear offside passenger, a 22-year-old woman suffered serious injuries and is being treated in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The rear nearside passenger, a 23-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and is being treated in Raigmore Hospital, Inverness.
Road policing sergeant, Colin Matheson, said: "My thoughts and those of my officers and the other emergency services who were in attendance are with all those affected by this terrible tragedy.
"I am interested in speaking to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have seen the vehicle in the area beforehand.
"Similarly, I would urge anyone with information on where the car and its occupants were before the collision to contact us in order to help piece together exactly what has happened."
The road remains closed for collision investigation to be carried out.
